Know About Tutor

As a Chinese private tutor of 10 children, I aim to create interesting and effective educational materials for the children, and more importantly, achieve my objective of getting them to appreciate the beauty of the language while meeting the parents’ objectives of improved results. Especially in the covid19 pandemic, I’ve adapted my lessons online and enhanced teaching materials to keep my students still thoroughly engaged during lessons and practice Chinese consistently in their own time, through Duolingo assignments. My students have shown great improvement in their results, with one of them attaining an A for his O level results, and 3 others attaining a school award in recognition of their improvement in Chinese. Besides this, my teaching experience has extended beyond private tuition, as my Professor in NUS has recognized my passion and ability to teach, and has since engaged in being a teaching assistant in NUS, where I was able to guide the students in tutorials and shape their learning. My professor also very kindly gave me the opportunity to be his Research Assistant during the recent summer break, and I assisted him in designing educational handouts for the Computational Reasoning module. During that process, I learned a lot of educational techniques from him, such as the concept of scaffolding and how to effectively scaffold learning activities to help students learn better. Therefore, I have a rich teaching experience that I still continue working hard to strengthen and am humbled by the recognition of my tutee parents as well as the students from my University.  My teaching pedagogy is unlike any other. To me, you have to love what you learn before you learn what you love.
